Crispy Tofu

Ingredients

The tofu

  • 1 14-ounce block firm tofu

The coating

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch or rice flour

The seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Drain the tofu by placing it between paper towels and weighing it down for 10 minutes.
  2. Slice the tofu into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  3. If marinating, do so now.
  4. Toss the tofu with cornstarch or rice flour to coat lightly.
  5. For frying, heat oil in a wok or skillet, add tofu, and cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes until golden, then flip and cook the other side.
  6. Transfer cooked tofu to a plate lined with paper towels and season with salt.
  7. For baking, preheat the oven to 375°F, place tofu on a lined baking sheet, and bake for 20-30 minutes, flipping halfway if desired.
  8. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 4 days.
