Takikomi Gohan

Ingredients

The rice

  • 400 g short grain white rice

The protein

  • 150 g chicken meat
  • 1 sheet deep fried tofu (Aburaage)

The vegetables

  • 30 g carrot
  • ¼ piece Konnyaku (konjac)

The seasonings

  • 410 ml Dashi stock
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbs soy sauce
  • 2 tbs sake
  • 2 tbs mirin
  • 1 tbs sugar

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice and soak it in water for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the chicken, carrot, deep fried tofu, and konnyaku by cutting them into pieces.
  3. Drain the rice and place it in the rice cooker.
  4. Combine the seasonings and add enough water to make a total of 2 cups of liquid, then pour it over the rice.
  5. Cook the rice in the rice cooker, and once it boils, reduce the heat and cook for 15-20 minutes without opening the lid.
  6. After cooking, let it stand for another 10 minutes without opening the lid to allow it to steam.
  7. Open the lid and mix the rice and ingredients to distribute evenly before serving.
