Bacon Ramen

Ingredients

Broth

  • 4 cups water
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 3 ΒΌ slices ginger
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 2-3 tablespoons oil for frying
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • to taste salt

Noodles and Toppings

  • 2 packages ramen noodles
  • to taste chopped fresh spinach
  • to taste togarashi Japanese spice blend
  • to taste sliced green onions
  • to taste soft-boiled eggs
  • to taste black sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Combine water, garlic, ginger, and bacon in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 30 minutes.
  3. Strain out the solids and set the bacon aside.
  4. In a skillet, heat oil and fry the bacon until browned, adding salt to taste.
  5. Add soy sauce and mirin to the broth, then adjust salt if necessary.
  6. Cook the ramen noodles according to package instructions and place in serving bowls.
  7. Ladle the broth over the noodles and garnish with desired toppings.
