Ingredients

The Tater Tots

  • pounds russet potatoes
  • 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • as needed spray cooking oil (olive oil preferred)

Optional Spices/Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of cold water to a boil with a pinch of salt.
  2. Add the russet potatoes and simmer for 6-12 minutes until easily pierced but still firm inside.
  3. Remove the potatoes, dry them, and allow them to cool for about 10 minutes.
  4. Grate the cooled potatoes using a cheese grater and squeeze out excess water.
  5. In a bowl, combine the grated potatoes with flour and seasonings, mixing well.
  6. Form the mixture into tots, about 16 larger ones or smaller if preferred.
  7. Spray both sides of the tots with cooking oil.
  8. Place the tots in the air fryer and cook at 400°F for 10 minutes.
  9. Flip the tots and cook for an additional 5 minutes or until crispy.
