Instructions
- 1. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- 2. Cream the softened butter with the brown and white sugars using a mixer until creamy.
- 3. Add the eggs, vanilla, and red food coloring, and beat until combined.
- 4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture until a dough forms.
- 5. Chill the dough for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- 6. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- 7. Mix the white sugar and powdered sugar in a small bowl.
- 8. Roll 2 tablespoons of dough into balls and coat each in the sugar mixture.
- 9. Place the coated dough balls on the baking sheets about 1 inch apart.
- 10. Bake for 12-14 minutes until the cookies are crackled, then cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
