Ingredients

The cookies

  • 2 cups minus 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ΒΌ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 tsp liquid red food coloring
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

The coating

  • 9 oz white chocolate
  • optional sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Cream butter and powdered sugar until well combined.
  3. Mix in red food coloring, vanilla, and lemon juice, then blend in the dry mixture.
  4. Chill the dough until firm enough to handle.
  5. Divide the dough into two portions and shape each into a log, then chill again.
  6. Preheat the oven and prepare baking sheets.
  7. Slice the chilled dough logs into even pieces and bake until nearly set.
  8. Cool the cookies and then dip them in melted white chocolate.
  9. Decorate with sprinkles if desired and let the chocolate set in the fridge.
