Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread
  • 4 ounces cheese (Comté or Gruyère)
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Heat a cast-iron skillet over low heat.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in the skillet.
  4. Add the cheese on top of the bread in the skillet.
  5. Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
  6. Cook the sandwich for about 20 minutes, flipping once, until both sides are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
