agave nectar or powdered sugar substitute (monk fruit or Swerve)

Instructions
- Combine coconut milk, agave nectar (or substitute), vanilla extract, and salt in a saucepan and whisk to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer on low for 30 to 35 minutes, stirring every 5-10 minutes until it thickens.
- For the sugar-free option, after 30 minutes, remove from heat and quickly whisk in xanthan gum, then let it cool.
