Homemade Garlic Bread

Ingredients

The bread

  • 1 loaf country-style French bread or French baguette

The garlic bread spread

  • 6 cloves fresh garlic
  • ¼ cup chopped flat-leaf parsley
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (176°C).
  2. Process the garlic in a food processor until fine, then add the parsley, salt, and pepper, and pulse twice.
  3. Heat the olive oil and butter in a medium sauté pan, then add the garlic mixture to the spread.
  4. Slice the bread in half horizontally and spread the garlic mixture on both halves.
  5. Press the halves together, wrap in aluminum foil, and bake in the oven for 5 minutes.
  6. Open the foil and continue baking for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Slice into pieces and serve immediately.
