Ingredients

The garlic butter

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley or chives
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt

The bread

  • 1 15-ounce loaf French bread or Italian bread or baguette

The toppings

  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • flaky sea salt
  • red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the softened butter, parsley, garlic, and salt in a small bowl.
  3. Slice the bread in half lengthwise and slather the cut sides with garlic butter.
  4. Place the bread cut side up on the baking sheet and bake for 8 minutes.
  5. Broil the bread for 2 to 5 minutes until golden brown around the edges.
  6. Sprinkle with Parmesan, flaky sea salt, parsley, and red pepper flakes if desired.
  7. Slice and serve hot.
