Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh or frozen fruit
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1 dash salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the fruit by slicing fresh strawberries or peaches, or using small berries whole.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the fruit, sweetener, and salt, then bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and mash the fruit to your desired consistency.
  4. Continue simmering until the compote condenses to about half its original volume.
  5. Remove from heat and adjust sweetness if necessary.
  6. Allow to cool before serving or refrigerating.
