Homemade Vanilla Custard

Instructions
- Whisk together sugar, salt, and cornstarch in a large bowl.
- Add egg yolks, milk, and light cream to the mixture and whisk until combined.
- Pour the mixture into a saucepan over medium-low heat.
- Cook while whisking continuously for 10-12 minutes until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract.
- Transfer the custard to a bowl and cover with plastic wrap directly on the surface.
- Refrigerate for 3-4 hours or overnight before serving.
