Ingredients

The cheese sticks

  • 8 sticks whole milk string cheese
  • 1 whole egg

The coating

  • cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Cut the mozzarella sticks in half.
  2. Beat the egg in a small bowl until mixed.
  3. In another bowl, combine the Parmesan cheese, basil, and garlic powder.
  4. Dip each mozzarella piece into the Parmesan mixture, then into the egg, and back into the Parmesan.
  5. Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Freeze the baking sheets for 1 hour.
  7. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  8. Bake the frozen mozzarella sticks for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  9. Serve hot with tomato sauce if desired.
