Easy 1-Pot Marinara Sauce

Instructions
- Heat a large pot over medium-low heat and add oil (or water) and garlic, sautéing briefly until golden brown.
- Add tomatoes, oregano, coconut sugar, salt, and red pepper flake to the pot.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce to low and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the chopped basil and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Taste and adjust the flavor as needed, adding more salt, oregano, basil, red pepper flake, or coconut sugar as desired.
- Optionally, add nutritional yeast and/or tomato paste for additional flavor and richness.
- If the sauce thickens too much, thin it with a little water.
- Serve with your favorite Italian dishes or over cooked pasta.
