Ingredients

Using fresh coconut

  • 1 coconut coconut
  • 1 ½ - 2 cups water

Using coconut flakes

  • 2 cups coconut flakes
  • 4 cups water

Tools

  • 1 blender
  • 1 coffee grinder
  • 1 cheese cloth

Instructions

  1. Crack open the coconut using a blunt side of a cleaver or hammer.
  2. Place the coconut in the oven for about 10 minutes at 350°F to loosen the flesh.
  3. Remove the coconut meat using a spoon.
  4. Peel the skin off the coconut or chop it without peeling.
  5. If using coconut flakes, soak them in warm water for 2-4 hours.
  6. Blend the coconut meat or soaked coconut flakes with water until smooth.
  7. Sieve the mixture using a cheesecloth and squeeze to extract the milk.
