Apple Cider Sangria

Ingredients

The base

  • 1 bottle red wine
  • 2 cups sweetened apple cider
  • ½ cup rum or bourbon

The fruit

  • 1 each Granny Smith apple, cored and cubed
  • 1 each Gala or Honeycrisp apple, cored and cubed
  • cup pomegranate arils
  • ½ cup fresh cranberries

The flavorings

  • ¼ cup coconut sugar or cane sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • 3 sticks cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Make simple syrup by boiling water and sugar for about one minute, then let it cool.
  2. While the syrup cools, mix the wine, apple cider, rum, apples, pomegranate arils, cranberries, and cinnamon sticks in a pitcher.
  3. Add the cooled simple syrup to the mixture and stir well.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to let the flavors meld.
