Apple Cider Sangria

Ingredients

The base

  • 1 medium apple, any variety
  • 1 medium pear, any variety
  • 1 750 ml bottle dry white wine
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 1 16 ounce bottle ginger-flavor kombucha or ginger beer

Optional seasonings and garnishes

  • 2–4 pieces cinnamon sticks
  • 2 whole star anise
  • to taste fresh thyme sprigs
  • to taste sparkling water

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice the apple and pear, and add them to a large pitcher with the cinnamon sticks and star anise if using.
  2. Pour the wine, apple cider, and kombucha into the pitcher and stir gently.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or up to 24 hours.
  4. To serve, divide the sangria and fruit among 8 glasses, adding some fruit to each glass.
  5. Top each glass with a splash of sparkling water if desired and garnish with additional cinnamon sticks, star anise, and/or fresh thyme.
