Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all purpose flour, sifted
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 8 tablespoons vegan butter, solid and very cold, diced
  • 4-6 tablespoons ice cold water

Instructions

  1. Ensure all ingredients are very cold.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the sifted flour and sea salt.
  3. Add the cold vegan butter and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Slowly add the ice cold water, mixing until the dough comes together.
  5. Shape the dough into a disk and wrap it tightly in reusable wrap.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or up to 2 days.
  7. When ready to use, let the dough sit at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes.
  8. Roll out the dough on parchment paper to a 10 to 12 inch circle.
  9. Transfer the dough to a pie dish, smoothing out the bottom and edges.
  10. If pre-baking, prick the bottom with a fork and add pie weights.
