Ingredients

  • 1 whole orange
  • 10 medium apples (variety such as Honeycrisp and Granny Smith)
  • 3 sticks cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • to taste tablespoon granulated sugar
  • as needed cups water

Instructions

  1. Peel the orange and place the segments in a slow cooker.
  2. Rinse the apples, cut into quarters, and add to the slow cooker.
  3. Add cinnamon sticks, ground cloves, and sugar to the slow cooker.
  4. Add enough water to cover the fruit.
  5. Cook on low heat for 6-7 hours or high heat for 3 hours.
  6. Mash the fruit with a large spoon to release its liquids.
  7. Allow the mixture to cook for an additional hour.
  8. Strain the cider through a fine mesh sieve into a large pot or pitcher.
  9. Serve the cider warm.
