Instructions
- Activate the yeast by mixing it with a pinch of sugar and warm milk, then let it rest.
- In a stand mixer, combine the remaining milk, butter, and sugar, then add salt, egg, and optional ingredients.
- Mix in the yeast mixture and gradually add flour until a sticky dough forms.
- Knead the dough until smooth, then let it rise in a buttered bowl until doubled in size.
- Chill the dough in the freezer for 30 minutes or refrigerate overnight.
- Prepare the swirl mixture and butter a loaf pan.
- Roll out the dough, spread butter, and sprinkle the swirl mixture and raisins on top.
- Roll the dough tightly and place it seam side down in the pan, then let it rise again.
- Preheat the oven and brush the loaf with melted butter before baking.
- Bake until golden and hollow-sounding, then cool before slicing.
