Instructions
- Marinate the meat in all ingredients except water for about 30 minutes.
- In a pot, add the marinated ingredients and ½ cup of water, then bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer without stirring until the vinegar's acidity is mostly cooked off.
- Continue simmering until the chicken is very tender, about 40 minutes to an hour.
- Remove the chicken and mash some garlic cloves into the sauce.
- Simmer the sauce until the pork is tender, about another 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- Remove the pork and reduce the sauce to desired consistency, adding brown sugar if desired.
- In a skillet, fry the chicken and pork until browned.
- Return the browned meat to the sauce, toss gently, and serve.
