Ingredients

The beef

  • 1 lb uncooked lean & trimmed boneless top round roast of beef, sliced thin and cut into bite-sized pieces

The sauce

  • 1 cup fat free beef broth
  • ½ cup low sodium soy sauce
  • cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

The vegetables

  • 2 cups frozen broccoli florets/pieces, unthawed

Instructions

  1. Combine the broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and garlic in the slow cooker and stir to mix.
  2. Add the uncooked beef pieces and ensure they are covered by the liquid.
  3. Set the slow cooker to low, cover, and cook for 4 hours, checking for doneness.
  4. Remove 4 tablespoons of the liquid and mix it with the cornstarch in a bowl.
  5. Return the cornstarch mixture to the slow cooker and stir well.
  6. Add the frozen broccoli and stir to combine.
  7. Re-cover and cook on low for an additional 30 minutes.
