Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles

The truffle mixture

The chocolate coating

dark or semisweet chocolate, chopped

chocolate-flavor candy coating, chopped

shortening

Instructions
- Line two baking sheets with wax paper.
- Beat the butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Slowly mix in the flour until just combined.
- Stir in the miniature chocolate pieces using a wooden spoon.
- Shape the dough into ¾" to 1" balls and place them on the first baking sheet.
- Freeze for 30 minutes or until firm.
- While the cookie dough is in the freezer, heat the chopped chocolate, candy coating, and shortening over low heat in a clean, dry saucepan until melted and smooth.
- Roll or dip each ball in the chocolate mixture using two forks, allowing excess chocolate to drip back into the saucepan.
- Place the truffles on the second lined baking sheet.
- Decorate with sprinkles and chill for 20-30 minutes.
- Drizzle any remaining melted chocolate mixture over the truffles.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
