Ingredients

The chicken

  • 2 to 3 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts

The seasoning

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Add water to the Instant Pot and place the chicken breasts in it.
  2. Season the chicken with salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  3. Secure the lid and set the steam release valve to Sealing.
  4. Cook on high pressure for 10 minutes for 4 to 7 oz. breasts, 12 minutes for 8 to 12 oz. breasts, or 15 minutes for 14 to 16 oz. breasts.
  5. After cooking, allow the pressure to naturally release for 10 minutes, then switch to Venting to release any remaining pressure.
  6. Check that the internal temperature of the chicken is at least 165ºF.
  7. Use a hand mixer to shred the chicken directly in the pot or transfer to a cutting board and shred with forks.
  8. Serve immediately or store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
