Ingredients

The eggs

  • 1 egg egg

The cooking fat

  • 2 teaspoons butter or olive oil

Optional seasoning

  • to taste salt
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat butter or oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Crack the egg into the skillet and cook until the whites are set.
  3. For sunny-side up, remove the egg when the whites are opaque.
  4. For over-easy, flip the egg and cook for an additional 20 to 30 seconds.
  5. For over-medium, flip the egg and cook for an additional 30 to 60 seconds.
  6. For over-hard, flip the egg and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until the yolk is firm.
  7. Season with salt and pepper if desired, and serve immediately.
