Ingredients

The beans

  • 1 lb green beans, stemmed

The oil mixture

  • 4 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon capers
  • to taste kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the broiler to high for at least 15 minutes and line a rimmed sheet pan with aluminum foil.
  2. In a small skillet, combine 2 tablespoons of olive oil, garlic, crushed red pepper flakes, and capers on low heat to infuse the oil.
  3. Toss the green beans with the remaining olive oil and kosher salt on the prepared sheet pan.
  4. Broil the green beans for 2 minutes, check for charring, and continue to broil for another 1-2 minutes if necessary, tossing halfway through.
  5. Once the beans are blistered to your liking, transfer them to a serving platter.
  6. Increase the heat on the oil mixture until the garlic begins to brown, then pour the oil over the blistered beans.
  7. Gently toss the beans, taste, and adjust seasoning with more salt if desired. Serve immediately.
