Garlic Parmesan Pasta

Ingredients

The pasta

  • 10 oz dry spaghetti
  • 1 cup reserved pasta water

The sauce

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 oz parmesan cheese
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1. Bring 10 cups of water to a boil in a large pot and season with salt.
  2. 2. Cook the spaghetti until al dente according to package directions.
  3. 3. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti.
  4. 4. Return the empty pot to medium-low heat and melt the butter.
  5. 5. Add the garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  6. 6. Remove from heat, add the drained pasta to the pot with the butter mixture, and pour in ½ cup of hot pasta water, tossing to combine.
  7. 7. Sprinkle in the parmesan cheese and toss until melted, adding more reserved pasta water as needed to reach desired consistency.
  8. 8. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
