Cake

  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 6 tablespoons salted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a saucepan, whisk cornstarch with a bit of milk until smooth, then add remaining milk, heavy cream, sugar, and salt.
  3. Heat the mixture over medium heat, whisking until it simmers and thickens slightly, then stir in vanilla and butter.
  4. Pour the pudding mixture into the prepared pan.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  6. In another bowl, mix eggs, milk, and vanilla, then combine with dry ingredients and melted butter, mixing until just combined.
  7. Pour the cake batter evenly over the pudding layer in the pan.
  8. Bake for 30-40 minutes until the cake is set and pudding bubbles underneath.
