Ingredients

The cake

The pudding

  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • cup light brown sugar
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ cups boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease an 8-inch square pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt, then whisk in granulated sugar.
  3. In a small bowl, combine milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract, then whisk together.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir just until combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  6. In another bowl, combine cocoa powder, brown sugar, and granulated sugar, then sprinkle this mixture over the batter.
  7. Pour hot water evenly over the top without stirring.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is set and cracked.
  9. Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes before serving.
