Ingredients

  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 4 cups white whole wheat flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup warm water

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a loaf pan with olive oil.
  2. 2. Mix 1/4 cup of lukewarm water with the yeast and honey, then set aside.
  3. 3. In a stand mixer, combine the flour, salt, and olive oil.
  4. 4. Slowly add the yeast/water mixture and then about 1 cup of lukewarm water until the dough forms a ball.
  5. 5. Place the dough in a non-reactive bowl and let it rise for 60 to 90 minutes.
  6. 6. Shape the dough into a rectangle and transfer it to the loaf pan, allowing it to rise again for another 60 to 90 minutes.
  7. 7. Bake the bread for 40 to 45 minutes and then cool on a wire rack.
