Ingredients

The dough

  • 1 cup whole-wheat flour
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 sticks butter (softened but not melted)
  • 1 ¼ cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs

The coating

  • 3 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the whole-wheat flour, all-purpose flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, sugar, and eggs together until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until thoroughly combined.
  5. Use a cookie scoop or roll the dough into balls.
  6. Mix the sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl.
  7. Roll each dough ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until evenly coated.
  8. Place the coated dough balls on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
