Ingredients

Cinnamon Sugar

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Snickerdoodles

  • ¼ cup salted butter, softened
  • ¼ cup shortening, room temperature
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the cinnamon sugar.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, shortening, and sugar.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla, beating until well combined.
  5. Mix in the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt until just combined.
  6. Scoop the dough into 24 balls and roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  7. Place the balls on the baking sheets and bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the tops are cracked.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
