Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the cinnamon sugar.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter, shortening, and sugar.
- Add the egg and vanilla, beating until well combined.
- Mix in the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt until just combined.
- Scoop the dough into 24 balls and roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Place the balls on the baking sheets and bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the tops are cracked.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
