Instructions
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat and cook mushrooms, onions, and garlic until tender.
- Increase heat to medium-high, add sliced sirloin, and cook until browned.
- Stir in flour, then add consommé, sherry, lemon juice, and pepper, mixing well.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
- While the sauce simmers, cook egg noodles in a salted pot of boiling water according to package instructions, then drain.
- Temper the sour cream by mixing it with a small amount of the hot cooking liquid, then stir it into the beef mixture.
- Add salt to taste and serve the stroganoff over the cooked egg noodles.
