Ingredients

  • 3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • cups warm water

Instructions

  1. 1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and yeast, and mix well.
  2. 2. Pour in the warm water and stir until a thick and sticky dough forms.
  3. 3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rest in a warm place for 8 to 18 hours.
  4. 4. Preheat your oven to 450°F and place a 3-quart Dutch oven with its lid inside to preheat for at least 30 minutes.
  5. 5. Degas the dough by punching it down, then turn it onto a floured sheet of parchment paper.
  6. 6. Shape the dough into a ball and sprinkle the top lightly with flour. Cover loosely with plastic film and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  7. 7. Carefully remove the preheated Dutch oven from the oven and transfer the dough into it.
  8. 8. Cover with the lid and bake for 45 minutes, then remove the lid and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. 9. Remove the bread from the Dutch oven and let it cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
