Ingredients

The mushrooms

  • 16 ounces cremini mushrooms or portobello mushrooms

The seasoning

  • to taste balsamic vinegar
  • to taste extra-virgin olive oil
  • to taste tamari
  • to taste sea salt
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Clean the mushrooms by wiping them with a damp cloth.
  2. If using portobellos, remove the stems; leave creminis intact but trim any dried ends.
  3. Drizzle the mushrooms with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and tamari, then sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  4. Use your hands to coat the mushrooms thoroughly with the seasonings.
  5. If using cremini mushrooms, thread them onto skewers.
  6. Preheat the grill or grill pan to medium heat.
  7. Place the cremini skewers or portobello caps on the grill, gill side up.
  8. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes per side until tender and charred.
