The popcorn

  • cup popcorn kernels

The oil

  • 2 tablespoons canola oil

Seasoning

  • to taste salt

Instructions

  1. Add 2 tablespoons of canola oil and 2-3 popcorn kernels to a large pot, cover, and heat on medium-high until the test kernels pop.
  2. Once the test kernels pop, add ⅓ cup of popcorn kernels to the pot and stir to coat in oil, then cover with the lid slightly ajar.
  3. When popping starts, shake the pot every 20-30 seconds to prevent burning.
  4. When popping slows to 3-4 seconds between pops, remove the pot from heat.
  5. Season with salt and any other desired seasonings immediately after popping.
