dark or semi-sweet chocolate, roughly chopped, or ⅓ cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 325°F and prepare an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
- 2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, whisking until it turns golden brown.
- 3. Stir in the sugar, cocoa powder, sea salt, baking powder, and espresso powder until combined. Let cool for 5 minutes.
- 4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing vigorously after each addition until thick and shiny.
- 5. Mix in vanilla extract and flour until no streaks remain, then beat for 50 strokes.
- 6. Fold in the chocolate chunks or chips.
- 7. Spread the batter in the prepared pan and swirl the top lightly.
- 8. Bake for about 25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
- 9. Cool in the pan before transferring to a cutting board and slicing into squares.
