Instructions
- 1. Boil water in a large pot for the pasta and salt it generously once boiling.
- 2. Prep and measure all ingredients while the water heats.
- 3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, then add garlic, onion, and ¼ teaspoon salt, cooking until onions soften.
- 4. Add ground beef and the remaining salt, breaking it into crumbles and cooking until it's no longer pink.
- 5. Cook the pasta in the boiling water until just shy of al dente.
- 6. Stir in tomato paste to the beef mixture and cook until it caramelizes.
- 7. Add red wine and Worcestershire sauce, simmering until most liquid evaporates.
- 8. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and add it to the sauce with the reserved water.
- 9. Simmer the sauce with the pasta until it thickens and clings to the noodles.
- 10. Adjust salt if needed, top with Parmesan if desired, and serve.
