The rice

  • cups basmati rice

The cooking liquid

  • 3 cups water
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold running water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a saucepan, bring the measured water to a boil, along with the salt.
  3. Once boiling, add the rice.
  4. Cover the pan, reduce the heat to low, and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Turn off the heat and let the rice sit in the pot for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Use a fork to fluff the rice then serve.
