The rice

The cooking liquid

  • 2 ¼ cups filtered water
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

  1. 1. Combine water and salt in a small pot and bring to a boil.
  2. 2. Stir in the brown rice and bring back to a boil.
  3. 3. Reduce heat to low for a gentle simmer and cover the pot.
  4. 4. Set a timer for 30 minutes.
  5. 5. After 30 minutes, check if the water has absorbed.
  6. 6. If the water is absorbed, turn off the heat and let the pot sit covered for 15 minutes.
  7. 7. Remove the lid and fluff the rice before serving.
