Bacon Wrapped Shrimp

Ingredients

The shrimp and bacon

  • 16 large shrimp peeled with tails on
  • 8 slices bacon cut in half

The glaze

  • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • to taste salt

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 400º F.
  2. 2. Place a wire rack over a large baking sheet and lay halved bacon slices in a single layer on the rack.
  3. 3. Bake the bacon for about 10 minutes until it renders some fat and starts to turn golden brown.
  4. 4. In a medium bowl, mix maple syrup, melted butter, and red pepper flakes.
  5. 5. Toss the shrimp and cooked bacon in the maple butter mixture.
  6. 6. Wrap each shrimp with a piece of bacon and secure it with a toothpick.
  7. 7. Place the wrapped shrimp on the wire rack and brush with the remaining maple butter.
  8. 8. Bake the shrimp for 5 minutes, then switch the oven to broil and broil for 5-8 minutes until the bacon is crispy, flipping the shrimp halfway through.
