Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F and butter a 9-10 inch round tart pan.
- In a small bowl, toss the cherries with cornstarch and sugar, then set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and nuts.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, buttermilk, and melted butter.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Pour the cherries into the prepared pan and drop dollops of the dough on top.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and cooked through.
