Ingredients

The Cherry Filling

  • 2 pounds cherries, pits removed
  • cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons corn starch

The Cobbler Crust

  • cup butter
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine all cherry filling ingredients in a saucepan and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes.
  3. Place butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and transfer to the oven for 3 minutes until melted.
  4. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, milk, and baking powder until just combined.
  5. Remove the baking dish from the oven and pour the batter over the melted butter without stirring.
  6. Pour the cherry filling over the batter and bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
