Ingredients

The dough

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup wheat germ
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

The wet ingredients

  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks, softened)
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the dry ingredients in a medium bowl and set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the butter, brown sugar, and honey, and mix until light and fluffy.
  3. Reduce the mixer speed and add the flour mixture, beating until combined.
  4. Flour a work surface and roll out the dough to 1/8 inch thick, then refrigerate for 10 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  6. Cut the dough into desired shapes and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Refrigerate or freeze the cut dough for another 10-15 minutes until firm.
  8. Bake for 10-14 minutes until lightly browned around the edges.
