Instructions
- Prepare the dough by whisking warm milk, yeast, and sugar, then let it sit until frothy.
- Add eggs, butter, vanilla, nutmeg, salt, and flour, then mix until the dough comes together.
- Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until soft and slightly tacky.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for 1.5-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, roll it out to ½ inch thick, and cut into doughnuts.
- Line baking sheets with parchment paper and let the doughnuts rest while heating oil.
- Heat oil to 375°F (191°C) and fry doughnuts in batches for 1 minute on each side.
- Make the icing by melting butter and maple syrup, then whisk in confectioners’ sugar and salt.
- Dip warm doughnuts in icing and top with bacon.
