Ingredients

The donut batter

  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • a pinch nutmeg

Maple Bacon Donuts

  • 6 slices Signature Farms bacon
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 ½ tablespoons milk
  • 1 ½ teaspoons corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Milk and Cereal Donuts

  • 2 cups Signature SELECT Honey Nut Toasted Oats
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 ½ to 3 tablespoons milk
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • a pinch salt

Coffee and Chocolate Donuts

  • 2 tablespoons Signature SELECT Coffee
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons corn syrup
  • ½ cup chopped semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • optional sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease the donut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the sour cream, egg, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the flour, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg, and stir until just combined.
  4. Transfer the batter to a disposable plastic bag, snip off a corner, and pipe into the donut pan, filling each ring ¾ full.
  5. Bake for 11 to 14 minutes until the tops spring back when pressed, then cool completely on a rack.
  6. For Maple Bacon Donuts, chop the cooked bacon and set aside. In a saucepan, melt butter, brown sugar, milk, and corn syrup. Stir in maple extract and whisk in powdered sugar. Dip donuts in glaze and top with bacon.
  7. For Milk and Cereal Donuts, pour cereal into a bowl. Mix powdered sugar, melted butter, milk, vanilla, and salt in another bowl. Dip donuts in glaze, then in cereal, and let set for 5 to 10 minutes.
  8. For Coffee and Chocolate Donuts, melt coffee, butter, and corn syrup in a saucepan. Add chocolate and whisk until smooth, then mix in powdered sugar. Dip donuts in glaze and add sprinkles if desired.
