Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease the donut pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the sour cream, egg, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add the flour, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg, and stir until just combined.
- Transfer the batter to a disposable plastic bag, snip off a corner, and pipe into the donut pan, filling each ring ¾ full.
- Bake for 11 to 14 minutes until the tops spring back when pressed, then cool completely on a rack.
- For Maple Bacon Donuts, chop the cooked bacon and set aside. In a saucepan, melt butter, brown sugar, milk, and corn syrup. Stir in maple extract and whisk in powdered sugar. Dip donuts in glaze and top with bacon.
- For Milk and Cereal Donuts, pour cereal into a bowl. Mix powdered sugar, melted butter, milk, vanilla, and salt in another bowl. Dip donuts in glaze, then in cereal, and let set for 5 to 10 minutes.
- For Coffee and Chocolate Donuts, melt coffee, butter, and corn syrup in a saucepan. Add chocolate and whisk until smooth, then mix in powdered sugar. Dip donuts in glaze and add sprinkles if desired.
