Instructions
- Cook the chopped bacon in a large saucepan over medium heat until browned.
- Add olive oil, then sauté onions, carrots, celery, garlic, and thyme until softened.
- Pour in the wine and mix well, then increase heat and add minced beef, browning it until no pink remains.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, Italian seasoning, bay leaves, bouillon, and stock.
- Bring to a low boil, then reduce heat to simmer and cover, cooking for 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- If the sauce thickens too much, add more stock to thin it out.
- In the last few minutes, add half and half if using, and season with salt and pepper.
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions, then combine it with the bolognese sauce.
- Serve with grated Parmesan and a sprinkle of basil.
