Ingredients

The chicken

  • lbs chicken thighs

The sauce

  • tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese rice wine or Japanese cooking sake
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • tablespoons oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • to taste white sesame
  • to taste chopped scallion

Instructions

  1. Debone the chicken thighs.
  2. Mix the soy sauce, five-spice powder, rice wine, sesame oil, and sugar until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Coat the chicken with the sauce mixture.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over low to medium heat and sauté garlic until light brown.
  5. Add the chicken and sauce to the skillet and cook for 8 to 10 minutes until fully cooked and sauce is reduced.
  6. Remove chicken from skillet, garnish with sesame seeds and scallions, and serve with steamed rice.
