Ingredients

  • cup brown sugar (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon peppercorns (optional)
  • 3-5 pieces sprigs fresh thyme (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the brine by mixing salt and water until dissolved.
  2. Place a brining bag in a bucket and put the turkey in breast-side down.
  3. Pour the brine into the bag, ensuring the turkey is fully covered.
  4. Seal the bag, cover, and refrigerate for 12 hours.
  5. After brining, rinse the turkey under cold water and pat dry.
  6. Return the turkey to the refrigerator in a roasting pan to air-dry overnight.
