Ingredients

Bang Bang Sauce

  • ½ cup vegan mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sambal oelek or any other chili paste
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or agave nectar

Bang Bang Cauliflower

  • 1 head cauliflower, chopped into florets
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sambal oelek or any chili paste
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • ¾ cup unsweetened almond milk or any nut milk
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice or apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup crispy Panko breadcrumbs seasoned with salt, pepper, onion powder & garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Mix all the sauce ingredients together in a bowl and set aside.
  2. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C) and prepare a baking sheet.
  3. Remove florets from the cauliflower.
  4. In a bowl, mix the flour, chili paste, cornstarch, nut milk, vinegar, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to create a sticky batter.
  5. Coat the cauliflower florets in the batter, then transfer to the panko breadcrumbs to coat completely.
  6. Place the coated cauliflower on the baking sheet with space between each piece.
  7. Bake for 22 minutes, ensuring the oven is preheated.
  8. Remove from oven, toss the baked cauliflower in the sauce, and return to the baking sheet.
  9. Bake for an additional 1-2 minutes for the sauce to soak in.
  10. Top with sesame seeds and serve immediately.
